Common Wasp

Wasps are without any doubt one of the most recognisable and alarming insects found in the UK. They have yellow and black striped bodies. They are10-15mm long. They prefer sweet foodstuffs and can sting if provoked or threatened.

If a wasp stings you, it is best to apply an anti-histamine. People have been known to react violently to being stung and several die each year as a result of anaphylactic shock, which is a severe reaction to the sting.

Control:
Liquid sprays and dusts can be used to destroy the nest directly.
